Progress Made on New Chincoteague Facility

The Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge Education and Interpretive Complex (EIC) Committee conducted its second planning meeting to move the proposed EIC forward.

The EIC Committee is comprised of representatives from the Chincoteague and Eastern Shore Chambers of Commerce, Chincoteague Natural History Association, Chincoteague Refuge Volunteers, Chincoteague Town Council, Accomack County Board of Supervisors, and a private citizen.

Results included the passage of four resolutions by the Chincoteague Chamber of Commerce, Town of Chincoteague, Accomack County, and Eastern Shore of Virginia Chamber of Commerce and Eastern Shore Board of Tourism, pledging support and establishing the need for an education and interpretive facility at Chincoteague Refuge.

If you are interested in learning more about the EIC or wish to become involved, please contact the Refuge Manager.
